Johnsonʼs Reconstruction Plan: After Lincoln's death, the reconstruction was in the hand of former Vice President, Andrew Johnson. When it was time to reconstruct, he had a profound hatred of rich planters and found strong voter support among poor white southerners. The following provisions are part of his plan.

"1 - It pardoned southerners who swore allegiance to the Union.

2- It permitted each state to hold a constitutional convention.

3- States were required to void secession, abolish slavery, and repudiate the Confederate debt.

4- States could then hold elections and rejoin the union."

Black Codes : Black codes were laws that restricted freedmen's rights. The black codes established virtual slavery with provisions.

14th & 15th Amendment : The 14th amendment was " All persons born or naturalized in the United States... are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." The 15 amendment was that no citizen may be denied the right to vote " by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."

Carpetbagger: The Northern Republicans who moved to the postwar South became known as Carpetbaggers.

Scalawag: The name the Southerners gave white southern Republicans was scalawag.

Effects of War

Effects of War: Cost of War

Every war costs a lot of money. With the economic crisis in the world, it is probably not the time to spend so much money on wars. The war between Iraq and America for example, cost 55 billion dollars to the USA. Instead of spending so much money on wars and killing people, governments should spend money to buy food and shelters to all the poor people living on the street or help families who can't send their childs to school.

Also, effects of wars are millions of deaths and families destroyed. Millions of soldiers are killed every year which destroys their families. Some soldiers are new fathers and after their death they leave a widow and a child. I really think that wars have only negative effects and this world should really stop with them. The two biggest effects of war are economically and millions of deaths.

What did I learn from watching the Ken Burnʼs Civil War video?

Here is what I learned from watching the video:

- America lost 2% of its population in the Civil War.
-During that time slaves were treated like dogs.
- Any slave that tried to escape would have gotten severe punishment.
- Some slaves managed to get free which was because of the Nat Turner Rebellion.
- A rebellion led by Net Turner which helped some slaves get free.
- The cotton industry had involved during that time.
-Some famous names like Hariet Tubman wanted slavery to be unexecptable in Washigton.
- Hariet Tubman helped hundreds of slaves out through secret passages underground after saving herself.

Northern advantages versus the Southern advantages

Northern Advantages:
The Northern were more populated then the Southern. The railroad was longer , and they had a stronger economy because of the many more factories they had. Because the Northern were more populated then the southern, their union troops were much more and therefor much stronger. Also, because they had much more factories, they could produce better armors or equipment for them. Then their was the railroad that made it easier for them to move.

Southern Advantages:

Seven of the eight military schools were in the south. The southerns took fighting personal to their life so they were always eager to fight. They believed in self government. The Southern had slaves to help them with the farming.

The Civil War- Important Events that lead to it

The Compromise Act of 1850:
The Compromise Act of 1850 is the result of 4 different events.
First it was the result of the Americans getting the land of Mexico after a war. After the Americans got the land they didn't know whether they had to use it as a slave land or not to have slaves in the land.

Then there was California which was growing alot because of the gold rush of 1849, and then there was a petition on whether California should be a free state.

There was also dispute for land, for example Texas claimed that Santa Fe was part of them.

Then there was Washington D.C which was for slavery and had the largest slave market in North America.

After all of these events, Jan. 29, 1850 , Clay claimed a compromise.

Kansas-Nebraska Act: The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed by the U.S. Congress on May 30, 1854. It allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders. The act was meant to cancel the Missouri Compromise. After the Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed, pro-slavery and anti-slavery supporters rushed in to settle Kansas to affect the outcome of the first election held there after the law went into effect. Pro-slavery settlers carried the election but were charged with fraud by anti-slavery settlers, and the results were not accepted by them.

Violence soon erupted, with the anti-slavery forces led by John Brown. The territory earned the nickname "bleeding Kansas" as the death toll rose. President Franklin Pierce, in support of the pro-slavery settlers, sent in Federal troops to stop the violence and disperse the anti-slavery legislature. Another election was called. Once again pro-slavery supporters won and

once again they were charged with election fraud. On January 29, 1861, just before the start of the Civil War, Kansas was admitted to the Union as a free state.

Presidential Election 1860: In 1860 it was Ibraham Lincoln who was elected President. Although during that time, the main problem was slavery. The main debate was wether the United states should support slavery or not.

When Ibraham ran for presidentcy, he was against Douglas. Even if Douglas got elected in 1858, Ibraham made a big impact on the Americans after giving his speech in New York city . It was after his speech that he got elected.

In what situations will compromise not work?

I think that compromise will not work in many different situations. In a teenager’s life, usually in most situations compromise does not work with their parents because the parents have all the power over them. Let’s say the teenager wants to go to the movies or to the restaurant, if the parent’s don’t want the teenager to go there, then there is no compromise, the teenager will just not go. Another situation in a teenager’s life where there is no possible compromise is for example at school. If the teenager gets in a fight or does something very wrong at school, he will get in big trouble and there will be no compromise. In other situations, compromise could work. Let’s say the parent’s tell their kid to work, and the kid say’s I will work if I get this or that. Another situation in a teenagers life that would have no compromise is the fact of going to school. There is no compromise in whether the teenager will go to school or not.

In a political situation, there is no compromise in a trial. If a person did very bad things, when judges will judge him, the judges will usually give him severe punishment with no compromise. Although if a person has small things against the law, when he gets judged, the judges could give him compromise because he didn’t do something too bad. Another example for a political situation is for example if America would want to be something from China, but China has absolutely no interest in that deal , so there wouldn’t be a compromise since China won’t even talk about it.

Where Would I live and Why?

Lets say I have just graduated from university and it was time for me to find a place to live for the rest of my life. Since I lived in Morocco all my life, and I know almost everything about this country, I would probably decide to live in this beautiful country. I will describe the reasons using ESPRAT +G.
Economics : Morocco is not a very rich country, and therefore is developing. Since it is a developing country, there are many things to be made and created in th
is country. So if I had just graduated from university, I could have many projects to start here.

Sociology : Morocco is known for having very social people. Also, if I choose to live in
Morocco, I will be close to all of my familly, which is very important. I wouldn't have to make new friends since all of them would already be here in Morocco.

Political Science: Morocco has a dectatorship politics whic
h is ruled by one king. But even if thats the case, I wouldn't decide where to live based on the political status.

Religion: The main religion in Morocco is Islam. This is good for me since I am a muslim and therefore living in a country where Islam is the main religion would help a lot.

Art: Moroccans have a very special kind of art but that I really find beautiful.
It is very original and in a kind mosaic.

Technology: Even if the technology in Mo
rocco is not extremely advanced, Moroccos technology isn't very far behind the ones in other very big countries.

Geography : Ofcourse, Morocco has a beautiful geography, which deserts, oceans and beaches. It would be perfect for my style of life because I love walking along the beach and surfing. Also Morocco has many beautiful areas where I could possibily build a house, like along the beach or in the middle of the city.

Amendments

I think the most important amendments are the I, II, VI ,IV, and V. Since freedom, justice, and the right to be defended are the most important things in these amendments.

Morocco,Migrate in and out

The reasons why some people migrate to Morocco could be for jobs. A change in a job or a promotion could make them have to come live in Morocco. Another reason is retirement. Lets say someone lived in a cold envireonment all their lives, they might want to have a hot place for their retirement. Another reason is religious, or maybe they just want a change in their lives.

If some people migrate away from Morocco it is mostly because of economy. They migrate away hoping for another life, looking for a better job. Other people for relgious reasons, or even because they don't like the hot climate in Morocco. These are all good reasons why people migrate in and out of Morocco.

iTunes PodCast

I watched a podcast on a surf session. The podcast is called "Corona Presents Mark Viser and Occy Vs Tom Curen Special/ Pod Surf TV". It was a very good video on surfers that surf huge waves. I learned that when you get caught in a wave after falling you should let yourself go instead of fighting back to the ocean if you want to live.

Why Could Europeans Travel the Atlantic sea by Water?

They could sail the atlantic sea because the Portuges marines created a compass where they

could find visible land and later they created a boat special to travel on the ocean.

5 Main Reasons Why Students Should Blog!

1. It's a creative way to learn.

2.It's much easier to do homework on a computer then to write on a piece of paper.

3.Since it's fun, we put in more effort in our work.

4.We don't make spelling mistakes cause we can check them.

5.It's faster to type with a keyboard then write with your hand.

What Skill do Parents need in their lives?

After talking to my mother about this question, her answer was that the most important skill for her was patience. Patience because taking care of 4 children is a hard task, and patience is very important. Another important skill she recognized was respect. Respect because if you don't show people respect, people won't respect you and you won't go far in life.

My father told me that a very important skill in life was hard work. He mentioned hard work since he said we could get anything in life if we worked hard for it. He also talked about respect for the same reasons as my mom.
